Squiz Q&A with Brigit Verey, Account Manager
This week, we caught up with Brigit Verey, one of our Account Managers in our Sydney office.
Squiz: How long have you been part of the Squiz family?
Verey: 7 months.
What's helped you to get to where you are now?
Tenacity and a good sense of humour.
Is there any advice that you’d give anyone who wanted to do something similar?
Don’t be scared off by a lack of technical skills - the digital industry needs smart, business-minded people who are able to articulate problems and bring people of all stripes together to identify solutions. There’s always a need for good people who can navigate the space between business and technology.
What do you get up to on an average day?
There is no average day as an Account Manager!
We work right across the business, from pre-sales through to support, interacting with clients, project managers, developers, creatives, product managers, trainers, hosting and service delivery. My day could go from meeting with a client to discuss their business problems; to scoping out a new project with the development team; writing a tender response; sitting in on a project update; and escalating an urgent support request.
We do whatever is needed to ensure that our clients are getting the best out of their partnership with Squiz.
What’s your favourite part about working at Squiz?
What was your dream job when you were a little girl?
I honestly can’t remember… but probably something involving books.
What one thing do you wish you had (skill, thing or other)?
Better hand-eye coordination wouldn’t go astray.
What’s something random about yourself?
I studied music for two years at University, before turning to political science.
When you’re not being a full time Squizzer, where do you most like to be?
Laying on my couch, reading.
Cats or dogs?
Coffee or tea?
North Shore or Eastern Suburbs?
Inner west. Always.
What do you think will be the biggest revolution in the way that we live our lives in the near-future?
Trump got elected President of the United States last week… I think there’s a very interesting conversation to be had about how technology-fueled connectivity, social media feeds and news consumption are narrowing the views and information people are exposed to - and what that means in an increasingly globalised world.
What’s been your best day at Squiz so far?
I prefer never to look back - I’m sure my best day is yet to come!
