Cookie Notice
Introduction
This notice describes Squiz’s use of cookies, IP addresses, and other technologies on www.squiz.net and other websites and digital properties that link to this notice. It applies to all companies identified in our Privacy Policy.
What are Cookies?
Cookies and other online tracking technologies are small bits of data or code that are used to identify your devices when you use and interact with our websites and other services. They are often used to remember your preferences, actions and identify popular web pages to allow us to provide you with customized content and efficient navigation of our websites.
Your consent to the use of Cookies
On your first visit to our website, a pop-up banner will appear stating that Squiz uses cookies to read, store and write information on your browser, which may include personal identifiers, with a link to this notice and allowing you to accept or decline the use of non-essential cookies.
This banner will appear each time you visit the website until you take action to respond. Your choice to accept or decline will be valid for 6 months from the date of acceptance. If you visit the website six months after the date of action, the pop-up banner will reappear.
Withdrawing Consent
At any time, you can change your preference by clicking on “Cookies Settings” at the bottom of each webpage.
If you have previously given consent for us to use cookies and later choose to withdraw that consent, we will immediately stop setting new cookies and cease further data collection using those technologies.
Please note, however, that some cookies that were already placed on your device before you withdrew consent may persist until they expire or are deleted. These persistent cookies do not enable us to continue processing or sharing your personal data for marketing purposes once your consent has been withdrawn.
You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Our use of Cookies
Usage of services
We use cookies to collect, use and store information (including offshore) about your usage of our services, websites and apps, such as pages you have visited, content you have viewed, search queries you have run, and advertisements you have seen or interacted with.
Cookies may collect certain information about your interaction with our services. For example, to personalize your experience on our websites, our servers receive and record information about your computer, device, and browser, IP address and other software or hardware information.
What types of Cookies do we use?
Squiz uses four types of cookies on its websites:
1. Tracking, advertising cookies and similar technologies
2. Functional/preference cookies and similar technologies
3. Analytics cookies and similar technologies
4. Essential cookies and similar technologies
Each type of cookie is described below:
Essential cookies and similar technologies
These are vital for the running of our services on our websites and apps. Essential cookies, such as our Cloudflare security cookie or CDP preferences cookie, help us maintain a secure site, respect your cookie preferences, understand if you have logged into your account, as well as other essential functions.
Analytics cookies and similar technologies
These collect information about your use of our websites and apps, enabling us to improve the way they work. For example, analytics cookies show us which pages are the most frequently visited on Squiz websites, allowing us to place the most popular articles and items further up the page. They help us record how you interact with our websites, such as how you navigate around pages, allowing us to identify improvements we can make to the user journey. They also help identify any difficulties you may have accessing our services, so we can address and resolve any problems. Additionally, these cookies enable us to observe overall usage patterns at an aggregated level.
Functional/preference cookies and similar technologies
These cookies collect information about your choices and preferences based on your interaction with our websites. Cookies such as the Squiz CDP cookie and Hubspot cookie, allow us to remember details such as your language, location, username and preferred content, which improves your experience when using our sites. For example, by remembering your username, cookies facilitate faster login to our customer or learning management portals. Additionally, by accessing your IP address or assigning you a pseudonymous unique identifier (eg. Hubspot tracking cookie), we are able to show you localised content and even autocomplete forms on your behalf, without storing any personal data on the website or within cookies.
Tracking, advertising cookies and similar technologies
Cookies used include the Squiz CDP cookie, Hubspot tracking, LinkedIn Insights Tag, Facebook Pixel and Google Ads tag. We use these types of cookies and technologies to provide advertisements and communications that are more relevant to your interests. For example, we may deliver online adverts based on your previous web browsing activity, known as “online behavioural advertising” (OBA). Cookies are placed on your browser, which will remember the websites you have visited, the campaigns you have interacted with and your inferred areas of interest (based on browsing behaviours and data such as your IP address). Advertising based on your browsing history is then displayed to you when you visit websites that use the same advertising networks.
Tracking URLs
Tracking URLs are special web links that enable us to track when a link is clicked. They are used to help us measure the effectiveness of campaigns and advertising and the popularity of individual pages and links on our websites. Tracking interaction with these URLs is made possible when analytics cookies are accepted, allowing us to view data via platforms like GA4 (Google Analytics) and Hubspot campaign reporting.
Specific Cookies used on this site
Squiz uses both first-party and third-party cookies.
First-party cookies are cookies created, controlled, and placed on your device by the Squiz website.
Third-party cookies are placed on your device by a third-party (not Squiz). We do not control third-party cookies or other technologies. Their use is governed by the privacy policies of third parties using such technologies. You should make sure you are aware of how third parties will use cookies by checking the third party’s cookie policy.
To learn more about controlling cookies and similar technologies, please see the section below on managing cookies.
The table below describes the first and third party cookies used on Squiz websites, the purpose of collecting the cookie and the information collected:

| _ga _ga_* | 2 years | Third-party | Uses first‑party cookies and collects various behavioural data about how visitors interact with the website. | GA4 does not log or store full IP addresses; IP data is used transiently to derive coarse geographic information (such as country or region) and is discarded before being written to analytics logs or stored on Google’s servers. GA4’s privacy features, including default IP anonymisation, are designed to prevent retention of individual IP information in Analytics reports. |
Heap | _hp2_id.APP_ID _hp2_props.APP_ID _hp5_event_props.APP_ID | 13 months minus 1 day | Third-party | Your IP address, browser and device identifiers, and information about how you interact with our website, including pages visited, clicks, form submissions, and other behavioural events. | This data is collected by Squiz and transmitted to Heap, which processes it on our behalf to provide website analytics. Heap uses this information to help us analyse user behaviour, measure engagement, and improve the functionality and user experience of our website. |
li_adsid li_fat_id lidc | Up to one year | Third-party | Your IP address, browser and device identifiers, and website interaction data to analyse user behaviour and track conversions from LinkedIn campaigns. | This data is transmitted to LinkedIn and used to measure conversions, build advertising audiences, deliver targeted advertising, and optimize campaigns across LinkedIn platforms and partner sites. |
