Roadmap update

So, I’m Julie Brettle, Chief Product Officer for Squiz, and I’m here to share Squiz’s product vision, roadmap, and what’s coming up over the next 12 months.

We’re building the world’s most composable DXP. Why does that matter? Because we want you to be able to build brilliant digital experiences quickly and remain future-proof as your tech stack evolves. Composability ensures you can add and replace digital solutions as needed without disruptive replatforming, and without risking your experiences breaking when changes are made.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll deliver three key capabilities for our DXP to support this vision: the Component Service, our new Customer Data Platform, and our Advanced Forms capability. Of course, these aren’t the only things we’re building—you’ll also see enhancements to the DXP console, along with new functionality in Search and Insights.

Our new Component Service will be available in March 2023—so, very soon. The Squiz DXP Component Service helps you build and update web pages quickly. You can create and reuse custom components to deliver unique user journeys at scale, consistently across all channels.

A component is simply a section of a web page that provides functionality and delivers content. Common examples include accordions, hero banners, social feeds, and page listings. More complex components can be data-driven or perform advanced tasks, like a service directory.

With the Component Service, developers can easily build, test, and deploy complex components and design systems using JavaScript or other modern, developer-friendly frameworks. Editors can then self-serve using these pre-built, configurable components that adhere to design standards—without needing developer support. At the same time, web and digital teams can efficiently govern changes using reusable design systems and permissions across multiple sites and channels.

Customers today expect personalized digital experiences, but delivering personalization can be challenging. To solve this, we are building the Squiz Customer Data Platform (CDP), which will be available in July this year.

Our CDP is designed specifically for complex, service-led organisations. It allows you to ingest and unify fragmented data from multiple sources, generate a single comprehensive view of each customer, and personalize content across all touchpoints.

For example, imagine you’re a university wanting to personalize a student’s learning experience as part of a student success program. You can easily ingest data from your learning management systems—such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Brightspace—into the CDP. Any changes made in those systems automatically update the student’s unified profile.

If a student’s GPA changes, their profile is updated in real time and they can be re-segmented automatically. At the same time, updates from your CRM, such as a financial aid request in Salesforce, can also be ingested. By combining this data, the CDP might classify the student as “at risk” and automatically provide relevant support content in their student portal.

This is just one example. The CDP enables personalization across your entire digital ecosystem. You gain a deeper understanding of your customers, unify your data into a single view, nurture relationships over time, and adapt experiences dynamically as behaviours change.

Forms are another critical part of the digital experience. They allow you to gather data, understand your users, and deliver more targeted outcomes.

We are releasing Squiz Advanced Forms in September this year. These are designed to be easy to use for non-technical users, while supporting more complex functionality such as conditional logic, multi-page forms, and payment gateways.

Advanced Forms will integrate deeply with the CDP, enabling you to build progressive customer profiles over time using form submission data. Features include drag-and-drop form building, field validation, digital signatures, and multiple field types. Once created, forms can be embedded into websites using Matrix CMS, with the ability to preview how they will appear live.

We also have several improvements coming to Search over the next 12 months. We’ll be incorporating rendered page content into search results—something many customers have requested. We’re also introducing Curator 2.0, with enhanced plugin functionality to make it easier to manipulate content before and after indexing, ensuring the most relevant results are surfaced.

Another major enhancement is Active Analytics. Instead of manually checking dashboards, you’ll receive real-time alerts and recommendations when something important happens. These insights will not only highlight issues but also suggest next steps.

We’re also improving usability across search capabilities, introducing guided user journeys to simplify setup and configuration, and leveraging advances in AI to enhance search insights even further.

When you invest in Squiz’s composable DXP, you’re still buying a platform—but one that allows you to use different CMSs, integration partners, or third-party applications as needed. You can add or remove capabilities easily, while still maintaining a unified digital experience.

To support this, we’re enhancing the DXP console, making it easier to access all your tools in one place. Users will also receive evaluation versions of products like Funnelback (search), Connect (integration), and Data Store—without time limits—so you can explore what works best for you. The idea is simple: try what you like, buy what you love, and only pay for what you use.

We’re also introducing two new areas within the DXP console: Insights and Optimize.

Insights will provide editors, marketers, and developers with analytics on site performance and customer interactions, including proactive alerts and recommendations. Optimize will offer tools for improving digital experiences, such as A/B testing, user journey analytics, and other optimization capabilities to identify and fix experience bottlenecks.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll continue introducing new products and features to help you unlock the full power of the Squiz DXP and build fast, impactful digital experiences.
