Roadmap update

That’s exactly why the team here at Squiz has been working relentlessly on our product—to enable you to do just that. Come as you are, build brilliant experiences fast, and do it on a platform that embraces change so that you don’t fear it.

Hi, I’m May Kuhn, CMO at Squiz, and with me is Julie Brettle, our Chief Product Officer. This is our second six-monthly product roadmap update—quite a mouthful, but we’ll get there. Julie, thank you for joining me in the hot seat today.

You’ve been busy over the last 12 months. The team has released over 220 new features across our Digital Experience Platform. Now, we won’t go through all of them today—I’m kidding. What we will do is walk through the key releases since our last update, what’s coming in the next quarter, and a preview of what’s ahead on the roadmap.

As a refresher, Julie, you spoke last time about the promise of a digital experience platform and composability. Could you recap why that matters for customers?

Julie: There are really three core problems we see across the industry. First, building brilliant experiences takes too long. You want to create high-quality, personalised, optimised experiences across all your channels, but right now that’s difficult.

Second, once those experiences are built, teams become hesitant to change them. It took so long to build, there’s a fear of breaking something—especially when security is a concern in data-driven, personalised environments.

Third is composability. The market often forces a choice between large monolithic platforms—where everything is bundled together—or stitching together best-of-breed solutions that don’t integrate well and can feel fragile.

The promise of a DXP is that it should solve all of these challenges. That’s what we’ve been focused on: helping teams build brilliant experiences quickly, embrace change, and continuously optimise.

Once you’ve built something, it’s never the final version. You need tools to iterate, understand customer behaviour, and improve experiences over time. You also need strong performance monitoring and security so you can make changes confidently.

Finally, you need a platform that brings together multiple tools and vendors into something that still feels like a single, unified solution.

May: Those are big challenges, and we hear them from customers all the time. You spend a lot of time speaking with customers, so it’s great to see that feedback shaping the roadmap. Let’s make this tangible—what have we delivered in the last six months that helps solve these problems?

Julie: One major release was our web archiving system. This allows you to take snapshots of your site at a specific point in time, so you can clearly understand what content was live and when. This has been especially important for government customers.

It works with any system, creates a WARC file (a standard archival format), and allows you to store it wherever needed. It’s fast, flexible, and easy to implement.

Another key release is our Component Service. This enables digital teams to spin up web pages and sites quickly. Components provide a more powerful way of modelling content, making it easier for editors to manage repeatable elements like accordions and cards with drag-and-drop functionality.

It also empowers developers with a modern JavaScript-based approach. Developers no longer need to be Squiz-specific experts—they can build and test locally, iterate quickly, and deploy with confidence.

Importantly, components are composable. You can build and manage them centrally in Squiz but deploy them across multiple CMS platforms, ensuring brand consistency across your entire digital ecosystem.

Our third major release is the Customer Data Platform (CDP). This gathers user data in a governed way and makes it actionable across your tools.

It simplifies personalisation and breaks down data silos. Most organisations have customer data spread across multiple systems that don’t comMeiicate. The CDP brings that data together, enabling personalisation for both anonymous and authenticated users, as well as supporting analytics and engagement strategies.

We’ve also focused on helping customers measure the ROI of personalisation. It can take significant effort to implement, so we’ve made it easier to understand its impact and effectiveness.

May: I love this, especially from a marketing perspective. These releases directly address real challenges we face internally too. If anyone watching hasn’t explored these capabilities yet, definitely reach out to your account manager or visit our website.

Let’s shift to what’s coming next. You’ve been working closely with customers—what’s coming in the next six months?

Julie: The next big release is Advanced Forms. We’ve heard your feedback, and we’re rebuilding forms from the ground up. This will sit alongside existing forms, so there’s no need to migrate.

We’re focusing on usability—enabling non-technical users to build simple or complex forms quickly. Features include drag-and-drop fields, digital signatures, conditional logic, multi-page forms, and more.

Next is A/B testing, part of our optimisation toolkit. This allows you to test different versions of components—such as calls to action—and measure which performs best. It helps you optimise based on real user behaviour.

We’re also introducing a new content editing experience. This will make it faster and easier to build, personalise, and optimise content. It integrates with the CDP and supports both Squiz and third-party systems, enabling a seamless and flexible workflow for content editors.

May: I love that these features put more power in users’ hands without increasing complexity.

Now, let’s talk about AI. It’s everywhere right now. What’s Squiz’s perspective?

Julie: Our approach to AI is focused on practical value. We’re not interested in gimmicks—we want AI to genuinely help teams work faster and more efficiently.

Key use cases include generating content variations for A/B testing, creating personalised content for different audience segments, and maintaining consistent tone and branding across distributed teams.

We’re also exploring how AI can transform content from tools like Word into structured pages using your design system, streamlining workflows.

Finally, AI can improve how end users consume content—whether that’s summarising information, translating it, or adapting it into different formats.

May: That’s exactly the right approach—focused on efficiency and real outcomes.

What about search? We know many customers use Funnelback.

Julie: We’re often asked about integrating tools like ChatGPT into search. Our priority is accuracy. We’ve built our own search capability, so we focus on improving relevance and usability.

We’re exploring advancements in natural language processing—making search more conversational and intuitive—while continuing to enhance accuracy and performance through machine learning.

May: Great. We’ll keep everyone updated through newsletters, account managers, and more.

Let’s bring this together. Our DXP is composable, meaning you can mix and match capabilities, integrate your existing tech, and still have everything work as one unified platform.

Julie, can you share some real-world use cases?

Julie: Absolutely. Many customers are using components to build centralised design systems, ensuring consistency and speeding up development.

Universities are using the CDP to personalise student journeys and identify at-risk students earlier.

Government organisations are digitising services—moving from paper forms to online self-service, making it easier for citizens to interact with services anytime.

May: That’s incredibly practical.

Looking further ahead—2024 and beyond—what’s coming?

Julie: We’re enhancing digital asset management, making it easier to integrate your own systems or use ours.

We’re improving headless capabilities with better APIs and content modelling.

We’re also introducing more advanced site layouts and templates for greater control and flexibility.

Everything we build continues to support our composable vision—giving you flexibility while maintaining a cohesive platform experience.

May: And importantly, you don’t have to rip and replace your entire tech stack to evolve.
